GSME Forum believes that only a strategy involving SMEs can alleviate poverty. Village Development Centers: SF has a goal of setting up Village Development Centres to facilitate all round development of villages. A Village Development Centre, that the SF has envisioned, would consist of library, reading room with computers and Internet; non-formal education programs; nursery, primary school ; skill enhancement & training programs; health checkups. Powered by Solar energy and other alternative energy sources, a Village Development Center, as envisioned by SF, would contribute towards transforming rural India.
Micro and Small Enterprises: Micro and small enterprises (MSEs) play an important role in generating employment, income and wealth. It has the potential to make use of untapped economic and social resources in the best possible manner. By recognizing the scope and potentials of MSE sector, SF involves in activities to promote MSE sector.
IDSER undertakes studies related to rural development and development issues as well enterprise focused studies. The Institute has plans to offer courses related to management, HR, Development Studies and other job oriented courses. Further, the institute would be one of the major arms of the SF in realizing its goals.

N Prasad, was formerly Economic Specialist with American Embassy, New Delhi; External collaborator with ILO projects; Senior Economic Advisor, World Association for Small and Medium Enterprises. A Post-Graduate in Economics and have specialised in Economic and Marketing Research. Have over 38 years of experience in studying industrial sector, particularly the issues related to SME development, identifying business opportunities and conducting research studies and preparing reports. Has been associated with over 18 economic and market research studies (field-based) while working with Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, New Delhi and World Association for Small and Medium Enterprises (WASME), Noida, Uttar Pradesh. These included Export potential surveys, Demand studies, Overseas market surveys, Institutional framework for exports, status and capabilities of specific sectors and policy-related aspects.
